Widows and single mothers are mostly illiterate and on the edge financially.
Very often, they cannot pay the school fees for their children. This is why, in 2013 MANGALAM WELFARE launched a program that would pay for school fees,- school supplies, -uniforms and transportation for these children.
A woman employee of MANGALAM with vast experience of village dynamics enters each village and selects the most vulnerable children for help. Meanwhile our program has become well known and the disadvantaged but still strong women dare to contact us.
Each donation to this project will facilitate the ability to have a further education, which is most often life-changing…
We are a family of five: my mother, two older sisters, me and a younger brother. Shortly after my brother was born, my father left us… My mother had to support the whole family by herself. She works in the fields and doesn’t make much money, so we live in a very small house. But we are together, and we love each other very much and I think that is the most important thing.
As MANGALAM pays for our schooling, my siblings and I are very fortunate, for we can dream of getting a good job in the future. As for now, going to a public school means that we can study and also meet our friends there….
